We are delighted to announce that our Bibliotheca Islamica publication Al-Fawāʿid as-Saniyya fī Riḥla al-Madaniyya wa-r-Rūmiyya by an-Nahrawālī (d. 990/1582) has been short-listed by the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in the Editing of Arabic Manuscripts Category. The editor, al-Mahdī ʿĪd ar-Rawaḍiyya, based his edition on a unique manuscript in Beyazit Umumi Kütüphanesi in Istanbul. Al-Fawāʿid as-Saniyya contains the author's many voyages that he made within the Hijaz region, as well as his trip to Istanbul as an envoy carrying a letter from the Sheriff of Mecca to Sultan Suleiman. The Sheikh Zayed Book Award was established in memory of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding president of the UAE and is an independent cultural initiative administered by Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi.
