This volume is a critical edition of “Risālat as-sulūk fī l-aḫlāq wa-l-aʿmāl”a by the Iranian scholar ar-Raštī and is categorized as a work on theological and religious ethics from Shi’i perspective. It gained widespread fame in the Muslim scholarly field and was heavily disputed about by scholars who accused him of expounding Sufi beliefs. This critical edition is based on three manuscripts and includes a detailed index of commentary footnotes.
Vaḥīd Behmardī studied Arabic language and literature at the American University of Beirut and obtained his Ph.D. in Arabic Literature from the University of Cambridge in 1990. He is presently teaching at the Department of Arabic and Near Eastern languages at the American University of Beirut and his fields of research include Abbasid Literature and Islamic Mysticism.
