This publication analyses the doctrine of the founding father of the Wahhābīya, Muḥammad b. ʿAbdalwahhāb. In the first part, the author illustrates the basics of his teachings and the reactions of Sunni scholars in regard of ʿAbdalwahhāb’s doctrine.
In the second part, Peskes analyses the conflict between Sunni Islam and the Wahhābīya from the viewpoint of the Wahhābī historiography, focusing on the two scholars Ḥusain b. Ġannām and Ibn Bišr.
