In her publication, she examines the famous author Maḥmūd Taymūr, a pioneer of the modern Arabic literature, especially in the area of short stories.
Beginning with his Egyptian background, Prof. Wielandt analyses Maḥmūd Taymūr’s early works under selected topics, such as the types and elements of narration, the language used and the technique of reissue.
In the concluding part of her work, Wielandt delivers a detailed description of Taymūr’s narrations.
Prof. Rotraud Wielandt was Professor for Islamic Studies and Arabic Philology at the University Bamberg. Her research focus on Modern Arabic Literature.
