This collective volume is concerned with oriental Christianity through the ages, focusing on its exchanges and relations with Islam. Covering the periods from early Islam through the Middle Ages well into the 20th century, the 11 German and and four English contributions address different issues with Christian theological statements in an Islamic environment. The volume stems from the symposium “Götterbilder, Gottesbilder, Weltbilder”, held at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen.
Martin Tamcke is professor for ecumenical theology, Oriental churches, and missionary history at the University of Göttingen.
