NEW EDITION of BI 6, volume 4

Ṣalāḥaddīn Ḫalīl Ibn Aibak aṣ-Ṣafādī (d. 764/1363) was a historian of Turkish descent best known for his al-Wāfī bi-l-wafayāt, a biographical encyclopedia, which in the Bibliotheca Is-lamica includes 30 volumes with two additional volumes of indices. Nearly fifty years after its first publication, this new edition of volume 4 (Muḥammad b. Ubaidallāh to Muḥammad b. Maḥmūd) is based on four manuscripts, which allowed to revise the text and expand the num-ber of biographies included in this volume. It is edited by Muḥammad al-Ḥuǧairi.
Muḥammad al-Ḥuǧairi edited the OIB’s Bibliotheca Islamica-series from 1992 to 2013.
