Arab-German Academy of Sciences and Humanities seeks new members!

The Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) invites excellent early-career scholars (3-10 years after PhD) from all fields of the Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Technical Sciences, and the Arts to apply for membership. Join the Academy and embark on new routes to let your research flourish with fresh interdisciplinary perspectives! Applications for membership are open until 10 April 2023.
 
AGYA connects excellent scientists from Germany and 22 Arab countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. The academy’s goal is interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research into joint societal challenges.
 

AGYA offers its members the support and funding opportunities to realize interdisciplinary projects at the interface of research, science policy, and capacity building. Together, they currently explore topics such as Arab and German Education; Common Heritage and Common Challenges; Dynamics of Transformation; Energy, Water and Environment; Health and Society; and Innovation. AGYA membership promotes researchers on their career paths while offering them unparalleled prospects to boost their research portfolios and expand their international networks by travel grants and research stays.
 

The academy is a lighthouse project of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in international cooperation with the Arab world. AGYA is based at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) in Germany and at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Egypt.

Die Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) sucht exzellente Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen (3-10 Jahre nach der Promotion) aus allen Bereichen der Natur-, Technik-, Lebens-, Geistes-, Sozial- und den Künsten. Werden Sie Akademiemitglied und beschreiten Sie neue Wege, um Ihre Forschung mit interdisziplinären arabisch-deutschen Perspektiven zu bereichern! Bewerbungen für eine Mitgliedschaft sind bis zum 10. April 2023 möglich.


AGYA vernetzt herausragende Wissenschaftler*innen aus Deutschland und 22 arabischen Ländern: Ägypten, Algerien, Bahrain, Dschibuti, Irak, Jemen, Jordanien, Katar, Komoren, Kuwait, Libanon, Libyen, Marokko, Mauretanien, Oman, Palästina, Saudi-Arabien, Somalia, Sudan, Syrien, Tunesien und Vereinigte Arabische Emirate. Ziel der bilateralen Jungen Akademie ist die interdisziplinäre und transdisziplinäre Erforschung gemeinsamer gesellschaftlicher Herausforderungen. 


AGYA bietet ihren Mitgliedern Unterstützung und Fördermöglichkeiten, um interdisziplinäre Projekte an der Schnittstelle von Forschung, Wissenschaftspolitik und Kapazitätenaufbau zu realisieren. Zusammen erforschen sie derzeit Themen wie arabische und deutsche Bildung, gemeinsames Erbe und gemeinsame Herausforderungen, Transformationsdynamik, Energie, Wasser und Umwelt, Gesundheit und Gesellschaft sowie Innovation. Die Mitgliedschaft in AGYA fördert Forscher*innen auf ihrem Karriereweg und bietet ihnen einmalige Perspektiven, ihr Forschungsportfolio zu stärken und ihre internationalen Netzwerke durch Reisestipendien und Forschungsaufenthalte zu erweitern.

Die Akademie ist ein Leuchtturmprojekt des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) in der internationalen Wissenschaftszusammenarbeit mit der arabischen Welt. AGYA ist in Deutschland an der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW) und in Ägypten an der Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) verortet.
