The library of the OIB is a research and reference library within the broader field of Near and Middle Eastern Studies. It provides a collection of books, journals and newspapers that comprises more than 140.000 volumes and in addition more than 90.000 electronic resources (Ebooks, journals and databases) that are accessible within the OIB network to facilitate research. Particularly the Max Weber Digital Library Collection within our catalogue offers a broad range of multidisciplinary Humanities. The library provides furthermore an increasing collection of Open Access resources. 
A large part of our collection is in Arabic language followed by English, French and German. The holdings include as well literature in Armenian, Hebrew, Persian, and Syriac. The historical reading room offers reference works for scholarly purposes and is equipped with electric outlets for laptop computers and with wireless internet access for registered users. The library offers a quiet place for study and access to the OIBs recreational garden terrace. It serves furthermore as a social space for public events organized by the OIB. 
A PC is available to visitors for OPAC search only. In addition, the library provides scanning facilities and a microfilm reader. The OIB catalogues are accessible from any place. For the request of books and the usage of our library we recommend a registration in our library. OIB researchers, fellows and affiliates including OIB interns benefit from an immediate registration.
