Abstract:
The religious other as it appears in the Quran and Tafsir remains one of the most fascinating aspects of the Islamic religious tradition. The Quran and Tafsir literature offer rich material on the history of belief of other traditions. This material is made of various genres, from polemics, apology to exposition and quotations. It warrants continues investigation. 
The aim of this international conference in Cairo at IDEO from 19 until 21 of May 2023 is to bring scholars from various fields, history, literature, religious studies, reception history, to analyze and investigate the place of the religious other in the Quran and Tafsir.    
This is by invitation only conference.  The conference is organised by Thomas Würtz (OI Beirut) and Walid Salih (University of Toronto) in partnership with the IISMM (Institut D'études De L'islam Et Des Sociétés Du Monde Musulman) and it will take place at Dominican Institute in Cairo (IDEO).
