Abstract
The Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour is an educational institution rich in tradition in Lebanon, which many important personalities of the county have attended.
In the lecture by Père Charbel Batour, we will get an overview of the history of the Collège and also learn more about the current situation and goals. Our speaker will also share some of his ideas on the future of education in Lebanon in the second part. Especially in the current crisis situation, the education landscape is facing great challenges that are worth talking about.
Bio
Charbel Batour, S.J., is the rector of the Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour. Born in Beirut in 1968, he joined the Society of Jesus in 1988. He studied Philosophy and Theology in Beirut, Paris and Boston and obtained his PhD in Christian Ethics from Boston College. His doctoral dissertation was published under the title How can Lacan and Vasse Inform a Christian Understanding of Desire? The Signifier of Desire as a new Ground for Grace. Besides his work at the Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour he was also lecturing at Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut for many years.
