This volume contains a collection of contributions pursuing and discussing theological dialogue between between Christian and Muslim theologians mainly during the first centuries of their coexistence in early Islamic times. Hereby the researcher’s studies contribute to a better understanding of argumentations, issues and mentalities of the Syriac and Arabic texts traditions and touch upon the topics of dating, apologetical structures as well as philosophical backgrounds.


Martin Tamcke studied theology, philosophy and Oriental Studies at the University of Göttingen, attained his Ph.D. in theology at the University of Marburg and presently holds the position of professor for ecumenical theology at the department of theology of the University of Göttingen.
