In her publication Aqrābāḏīn al-Qalānisī Dr. Fellmann analyses the sources and the lexicography found in the work of Badr ad-Dīn Muḥammad al-Qalānisī who lived in Samarkand at the end of the 6th/12th century. His work contains around 1200 receipts prepared for pharmacists. It contains no pharmaceutical theories, but simple medifications with their differences in conservations in confections.
Dr. Irene Fellmann was OIB research associate from 1985-1988. Her research interests focus on Islamic studies, especially on the field of arab pharmaceutical literature.
