Nahed Samour is a Research Associate at the OIB. She studied law and Islamic studies at the universities of Bonn, Birzeit University (Ramallah), School of Oriental and African Studies University of London, Humboldt University of Berlin, Harvard University, and the University of Damascus. She was a doctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Frankfurt am Main and clerked at the Court of Appeals in Berlin.

She later held a postdoctoral position at the Eric Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Helsinki, and served as an Early Career Fellow at the Lichtenberg-Kolleg, Göttingen Institute for Advanced Study. From 2014 to 2018, she taught as Junior Faculty at the Harvard Law School Institute for Global Law and Policy.

Between 2019 and 2022, she was a Core Emerging Investigator at the Law & Society Institute at Humboldt University Berlin’s Faculty of Law, where she also acted as Principal Investigator of co2libri (conceptual collaboration – living borderless research interaction), a project of the Berlin University Alliance involving Humboldt University and the Free University of Berlin.

She joins us from Radboud University Nijmegen, where she continues to participate in the Race–Religion Constellation research network.
