The directorate at the Orient Institute Beirut (OIB) changed as of the beginning of October. Dr. Thomas Würtz was appointed interim director and Dr. Peter Pökel, the head of the library, vice-director.
The Board of Trustees (Stiftungsrat) of the Max Weber Foundation has appointed Professor Jens Hanssen as the new Director of the OIB as of the 1st of July 2023.
The academic advisory board visited OIB to discuss ongoing research activities, workshops, and conferences in addition to the completed projects such as latest publications.
Furthermore, the resumed activities of the Cairo office and the planned conference in Alexandria were also topics of the fruitful exchange.
There was also time for an excursion to Charfet Monastery and a visit to the manuscript collection. 

Zum Beginn des Monats Oktober hat das Direktorat am Orient-Institut Beirut (OIB) gewechselt. Dr. Thomas Würtz wurde zum Interimsdirektor ernannt und der Bibliotheksleiter Dr. Peter Pökel hat zusätzlich das Amt des Vizedirektors übernommen. 
Der Stiftungsrat der Max Weber Stiftung hat Professor Jens Hanssen zum 1.7.2023 als neuen Direktor des OIB berufen.
Zudem haben wir Besuch vom akademischen Beirat bekommen, mit dem wir die abgeschlossenen Projekte wie Workshops und Publikationen und die laufende Forschung besprechen konnten.
Darüber hinaus waren auch die wiederaufgenommenen Aktivitäten des Kairo Büros und die geplante Konferenz in Alexandria Thema bei unserem sehr ergiebigen Austausch.
Zudem gab es Zeit für einen Ausflug zum Kloster Charfet und eine Besichtigung der Manuskriptsammlung.
