DAAD Regional Office Cairo
Wednesday, 26. February 2025, 18:00-20:30
We are delighted to invite you to the next OIB/COSIMENA Seminar series lecture, which will be held on Wednesday, 26th February 2025, and as usual it will start promptly at 6.00 p.m. at the DAAD Regional Office Cairo, 11 El-Saleh Ayoub St. off 26th July, Zamalek.
The lecture will be followed by a network gathering in the garden and is titled ““How artificial is AI?”. The lecture will be held by Prof. Dr Michael Hampe (Die Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich).
Concept Note:
The talk will explore the distinction between the natural and the artificial, which is an old one in “western” philosophy. But it must be questioned in the face of self-developing neural networks that are the basis of AI. And what is natural intelligence? Is not all intelligence culturally determined?
Bio:
Prof. Dr Michael Hampe studied Philosophy, Psychology and Biology at Heidelberg and Cambridge. He has been a full-Professor for theoretical Philosophy at Die Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich, ETH Zürich, (Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) since 2003.
